Rhonda Johnson

Rhonda Sue Johnson, 66 of Mayview, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at Aspire of Oak Grove in Oak Grove, Missouri. She was born December 7, 1956 to Edward Costello Johnson and Lutie Katherine (Turner) Johnson in Mayview where she lived most of her life. Rhonda graduated from Odessa R-7 High School in 1975. She was a member of Zion A.M.E Church of Mayview, where she was an Assistant Secretary for the church Finance Department. Holding many jobs, she worked at the Odessa Garment Factory from 1977-1981, Harmon’s Electronics from 1981-2003, and was an Alderman on the Mayview City Council for 2 years. She also worked at the Higginsville Rehabilitation Center from 2003-2011, until she became ill and had to retire. She was a member of the 40-Ville 4H Club for many years where she learned cooking, sewing, and knitting. Rhonda had numerous hobbies: reading, scary movies, crocheting, she loved putting together puzzles, bingo, playing card games, Trivia, going to the Casino(s) and playing practical jokes. Rhonda was the Honored God Mother to Damian and Darian Harris, and she cherished the responsibility of being their God Mother. Rhonda is preceded in death by her father, Edward Costello Johnson and her mother, Lutie Katherine (Turner) Johnson; one brother, Wesley Allen Johnson; and three sisters Esther Madeline, Ethel Katherine and Janice Arlene Johnson. Rhonda is survived by three brother, Edward (Deena) Johnson of Florissant, MO, Ernest (Susan) Johnson of Higginsville MO, Rickey (Beverly) Johnson of Mayview; five sisters, Frances Jacquline Lee, Sadie Marie (Virgil) Miller, Ernestine Fay Lewis, Bernadine Kay Johnson, and Opal Johnson all of Mayview; two Aunties, Hannah Elizabeth West of Topeka, Kansas, Dawn Benita Cole of St. Louis, MO; a host of nieces and nephews; 4 generations of great-nieces and nephews; along with cousins and friends. Rhonda had a special closeness to her nieces, Charlotte V. Johnson, Amanda Annette Harris (who was more of a sister); nephew, Corey A. Johnson and two very close friends, Linda Collins and Verda Johnson. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at the Zion United Church of Christ 105 N. Mary St. Mayview, MO 64071. Repast will be hosted after the service in the Mayview Community Building.
