Chris Butts

Christopher Scott Butts, 55 of Higginsville, Missouri died on Thursday, September 15, 2022, at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born Sunday, March 19, 1967 in Lexington, Missouri, and was the son of the late William "Scott" Butts and Linda Butts (nee Butler). He was the husband of Tonya Butts (nee Rahn) and she survives of the home. Chris graduated from Lafayette County C-1 High School - class of 1985. After high school he joined the United States Army and served his country proudly. He continued his education with multiple trade certificates in auto mechanics and was a talented mechanic. He was at peace on his motorcycle and loved riding with his cousin, Jim and his friends from the Moose Lodge. His family was always his top priority and heart. He loved to attend family gatherings and cook for everyone. Holidays were always special for him because he would grill, cook, and smoke food for everyone. Chris enjoyed baseball and his Kansas City Chiefs. Chris grilled food for friends for many sporting games. He attended First Baptist Church, was a member of the Moose Lodge #10, and a member of BACA - Bikers against Child Abuse. He left way too soon but will be remembered as a caring husband, loving father, doting grandfather, supporting son, and friend to all. Surviving are sons, Zachary Butts of Higginsville, Christopher Skiles of Jefferson City, MO, Isaac Butts of Higginsville, William Butts of Higginsville; daughters, Kristen Butts, Lyndsea Butts, Katlyn Butts all of Higginsville; grandchildren, Skyler, Collin, Jace, and Nicholas. He was preceded in death by his father, William "Scott" Butts; and one son, Dylan Butts. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Monday, September 19, 2022, at First Baptist Church 1907 Peach St. Higginsville, Missouri. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM at the church with the Rev. Dr. Greg Fine officiating. Interment will follow in the Higginsville City Cemetery with military honors. Casket bearers: Hunter Campbell, Zachary Butts, Christopher Skiles, Jim Swigart, Mark Swigart, Mike Swagart. Honorary casket bearers: Collin Butts, Isaac Butts, William Butts, Jace Morrison, Nicholas Nelson, Skyler Robinson. Memorials may be made to Family Choice.
