Helen Sedge

Helen Louise Sedge, 66 of Kansas City, Missouri passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at her home. She was born on Tuesday, July 2, 1957 in Anaheim, California to the late Lewis Sedge and the late Zelma (Bailey) Sedge. As a young child, Helen and her family moved to Higginsville, MO where she attended school. They later moved to Kansas where she was a graduate of Oskaloosa, KS High School. Helen was a business consultant for Anthem, Inc. for over thirty years. She loved to read, garden and craft, including making stained glass. She was often seen antiquing at the “Cactus Shack” in Pleasant Hill. She enjoyed going to church and was a member of Forest Grove Baptist Church. Helen was very generous. She was always giving to charitable organizations and willing to help others. Helen was fond of her dog, Brynn and her cats. She enjoyed their companionship. Even though she did not have children of her own, Helen loved her nieces and nephews like her own children. Family was always very important to her. She loved family gatherings and spending time with them. Her sweet smile and charming personality will be missed by so many. Surviving are three brothers, Ronald Sedge of Independence, MO, Richard Sedge of Mayview, MO, and Raymond (Joan) Sedge of Richardson, TX; one sister, Susan Cobb of Shawnee, KS; nieces and nephews, Lori (Joe) Morgan, Amie (Matt) Withers, Brent (Maria) Sedge, Stefanie (Herman) Hudson, and Jessica (Jason) Ozenbaugh; great-nieces and nephews, Bryce, Jocelynn, Lewis, Gregory, Rafael, Matthew, Isabella, Luke, Blake, Grant, and Justyn. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Robert Sedge; and one brother-in-law, Peter Cobb. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at Stewart-Hoefer Funeral Home, 1600 Main St. Higginsville, Missouri. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday at Stewart-Hoefer Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Sam Anderson. Interment will follow the service in the Higginsville City Cemetery.
