John Pragman

John William Pragman, age 85 of Higginsville, MO, passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at Meyer Care Center from complications of Parkinson’s disease and Dementia. John fought courageously for many years with his family’s help. John was born on March 27, 1938 in Higginsville to the late Lambert Pragman and the late Mildred Pragman (Wegener). He lived his entire life in the Higginsville, Corder, Concordia area. John graduated from Corder High School - class of 1956. John married Sharon (Shrout) Pragman on May 26, 1961 in Oak Grove, MO. Growing up, John worked on the family farm. He made a career of driving trucks. He hauled steel to Detroit, MI, drove a truck for the Concordia Box Factory in addition to hauling milk. Later John hauled propane for Long Oil Company and Ferrellgas. John hauled grain for Hopkins Trucking Company to various elevators throughout Missouri. He retired from Shier Trucking in 2010. John was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church for 73 plus years. John is survived by his wife, Sharon Pragman of the home; two sons, Dr. J. Michael Pragman of Lee’s Summit, MO, Glenn (Sandy) Pragman of Higginsville; three grandchildren, Jennifer (Luke) Mahnken of Corder, Jarrod Pragman of Higginsville, Jessica Pragman of Higginsville; great-grandchildren, Noah, Joel, and Cain Mahnken; one sister, Shirley Laverentz of Higginsville; one brother, Ernest Pragman of Mayview, MO; one brother-in-law, Paul (Cinda) Shrout of Oak Grove; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant brother, Lambert Pragman Jr.; brothers, Donald Pragman and Jerry Pragman; one brother-in-law, H.A. Laverentz; one sister-in-law, Judy Pragman. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Monday, April 24, 2023 at Stewart-Hoefer Funeral Home with a funeral service following at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in the City Cemetery. Casket bearers: Jarrod Pragman, Luke Mahnken, Noah Mahnken, Luke Shrout, Joel Mahnken, Zach Mahnken. Honorary bearers: Jennifer Mahnken, Jessica Pragman, Cain Mahnken, Steven Shrout, Emily Shrout. Memorials are suggested to Hitt 4-H for the Corder Park Project.
