Kenneth W. Moore

Kenneth W. Moore, age 79 of Higginsville, Missouri died on Thursday, September 25, 2014, at his home. Born Sunday, May 26, 1935 in Higginsville, he was the son of the late Heuby Moore and the late Lydia (Saunders) Moore. He and Bonnie J. Alspaugh were united in marriage on October 14, 1978. Kenneth was a lifelong resident of Higginsville and a 1955 graduate of Higginsville High School. He retired from the U.S. Air Force on June 30, 1975 after serving from 1955-1975. He served at the Pentagon in Washington D.C. ranking Staff Sergeant and was a veteran of Vietnam. He later was employed at Owens-Corning Fiberglass Factory in Fairfax, Kansas retiring in 1995. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Higginsville and American Legion Post #223 in Higginsville. Surviving are his wife, Bonnie J. Moore of the home; one son, Greg (Candi) Moore of Lee's Summit, Missouri; three daughters, Misty (Jeff) Munson of Higginsville, Karen (Rick) Leslie of Adrian, Missouri and Cathy (Billy) Mitchell of Warsaw, Missouri; ten grandchildren, Hillary Moore, Malerie (Nathan) Neff, Carla (Tim) Souder, Mike (Jess) Mauldin, Marty (Sonja) Mauldin, Jeff (Karen) Leslie, Josh Leslie, Caden Munson, Gracin Munson and Korbyn Munson; 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his parents, three brothers, Julian, Robert and Heuby Moore; and four sisters, Mary Sue Minks, Marian Smith, Jerri Wise and Lucille McPherson. A Funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1501 Lipper St. Higginsville, with Pastor Marcus Jauss officiating, and Donna Owens as organist. Interment will be in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville. The family will receive friends from 6:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Monday, September 29, 2014, at Hoefer Funeral Home, 1600 Main St., Higginsville. The Family suggests Memorial contributions be may be to Immanuel Lutheran Church. Pallbearers are Jeff Munson, Daniel Teter, Jeff Minks, Gerald Wise, Rick Leslie, Greg Moore and Caden Munson.
