Larry Price

Larry William Price, 62 of Verona, Missouri, formerly of Higginsville, passed away on Sunday, September 4, 2022, at CoxHealth Medical Center South in Springfield, Missouri. He was born Thursday, January 21, 1960 in Lexington, Missouri, to the late John "Jack" (Sue) Price and the late Carlene (Doug) Diamond (nee Rider). He attended Lafayette Co. C-1 in Higginsville and married Peggy Price (nee Wentland) on September 1, 1978. From this union two daughters were born. Larry worked most of his life in construction and was a very talented carpenter. Most recently he worked for Wintech in Monett, Missouri. He liked to stay busy so he enjoyed working. Being a carpenter made fractions and math very important. Every morning he would do mathematical equations while drinking his coffee to stay sharp. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and cooking for friends. He loved to ride around listening to music and show you places he’d lived or just talk about memories he had at certain places. He liked to watch westerns and police dramas on television. He could cause an entire room of people to roll their eyes with his bad "dad jokes". He liked classic cars and Harley Davidson motorcycles. He was an expert two-stepper and loved country line dancing. He was an animal lover, always enjoying the companionship of a pet and never missed the chance to have chocolate ice cream. He was the best at keeping in touch; he would call everyone regularly to check on them or just to talk. He truly just wanted to know how you were doing. Larry had many struggles throughout his life but finally found peace and conquered those demons with the help of his church and finding God. He will be remembered forever as a loving father, the best brother, and an amazing friend. He will be missed greatly by all his friends and family that loved his stories and lively presents. Surviving are two daughters, Lia (Marshall) Stewart of Higginsville, Holly Price of Higginsville; six brothers, Rick (Nicki) Price of Newport, OR, Ronnie (Tonya) Gassen of Corder, David (Kaysha) Gassen of Edwards, MO, Kenny Gassen of Lexington, MO, Tony Atwood of Waco, TX, Kirk (Trina McShane) Diamond of Hillsboro, OR; four sisters, Annetta (Richard) Wallace of Hillsboro, OR, Donna Cockriel of Saint Joseph, MO, Pam (Scott) Wolf of Charleston, WV, Carla Conroy of Beavercreek, OR; three grandchildren, Cameron Dodson of Independence, MO, Cymen Dodson of Higginsville, Peyton Dodson of Higginsville; his two best friends, Kelly Mertz and Cheyenne Highley of Verona, MO; and his three beloved dogs, Jezebel, Gypsy and Bear. He is preceded in death by his parents. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at Stewart-Hoefer Funeral Home 1600 Main St. Higginsville, Missouri. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM with Rev. Dr. Greg Fine officiating. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery in Corder. Memorial contributions may be made out to Adopt A Pound Animal Welfare.
