Linda Lou Schmutz

Linda Lou Schmutz (Franklin), 78 of Mayview, Missouri passed away on Sunday, November 28, 2021 at Ignite Rehab Center in Blue Springs, Missouri. She was born Friday, March 26, 1943 in Higginsville, Missouri and she was the daughter of the late Herschel Franklin and the late Dorothy Franklin Mendenhall (Meade). Linda graduated from Mayview High School-Class of 1961. She married Norman Schmutz on March 4, 1962 and they were married 59 years. Linda helped Norman on the farm and also worked for Northwest Community Services for 17 years. She and Norman spent 4 years as a house parent for the New Life Home in Mayview, caring for a group of teenage boys. Linda loved going to the lake and spending time in their cabin. Linda and Norman bought an RV and took all the boys from New Life and NWCS clients every year to spend time at Truman Lake. Linda was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ Church in Mayview; was a member of the Prairie Valley Extension Club, and she kept score for the Mayview Men’s Baseball Team for many years. She was most proud of her monthly meeting with her high school classmates. They were all still getting together 61 years after graduating. She loved to fish, craft, collect magazines, and travel. She enjoyed going to Branson, visiting Walton Mountain, Noah's Ark, Georgia Aquarium and Southfork Ranch in Dallas, Texas. She will be greatly missed. Surviving are husband, Norman of the home; one son, Anthony (Heather Anderson) Schmutz of Saint Peters, MO; one daughter, Angie Wildschuetz of Mayview; one sister, Dottie Fox of Mayview; six grandchildren, Orry Wildschuetz, William Wildschuetz, Olivia Wildschuetz, Austin (Allison) Schmutz, Ashton (Steven) Smith, Laura Wood; eight great-grandchildren, Axel Beck, Brycen Smith, Autumn Livingston, Adonis Livingston, Carter Schmutz, Cameron Schmutz, Madison Minikey, Savannah Holton. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Nila Wood. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, December 3, 2021, at the Old School Gym in Mayview located at 204 N Forest Ave in Mayview, Missouri. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at The Old School. Interment will follow in the Zion UCC Cemetery in Mayview. Casket Bearers: Orry Wildschuetz, William Wildschuetz, Austin Schmutz, Steven Smith, Jim Dye, Donnie Goett. Honorary Casket Bearers: Axel Beck, Brycen Smith, Autumn Livingston, Adonis Livingston, Carter Schmutz, Cameron Schmutz, Madison Minikey, Savannah Holton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Show Me Christian Home - New Life Home or the Lafayette County Cancer Coalition.
