Linda M. Steffens

Linda M. (Franz) Steffens, age 88, of Raytown, Missouri, formerly of Higginsville, Missouri, died Sunday, October 11, 2009, at her home. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church of Raytown and also a member of the OWLS group of the church. She was born October 28, 1920 in Alma, Missouri, the daughter of the late Edwin Franz and the late Flora (Fuchs) Franz. She married Melvin Henry Steffens April 13, 1941. He preceded her in death February 1, 2005. Also preceded in death is a brother Howard Franz. Linda was a 1938 graduate of Corder, Missouri High School. She worked as a seamstress at the Higginsville Garment Factory, retiring in 1981. Linda lived most of her life in the Higginsville area, moving to Raytown in 2005. Linda's daughters remember her love of gardening, needlework and sewing. She was a woman of profound faith, believing in the power of prayer and devotion time. She instilled in her daughters the importance of holiday celebrations spent with family. Linda's grandchildren and great-grandchildren gave her great joy and she loved to give them gifts. Linda is survived by her four daughters: Joyce Martin and husband Mike of Lee's Summit, Missouri, Janice Rinne of Raytown, Missouri, Sandi Holman and husband Jim of Gladstone, Missouri, and Marsha Steffens of Olathe, Kansas; six grandchildren: Jonathan Pinnell & wife Sherry, Stephanie Taylor and husband Jeff, Farrah Beardslee and husband Doug, Christine Rinne, Jessica Trussoni and husband Nathan, and Christopher Holman; seven great-grandchildren: Jacob Englert, Aaron Pinnell, Lauren Pinnell, Kelby Hopkins, Lily Taylor, Pearl Taylor and Sophia Beardslee. The Funeral service will be held 10:30 A.M. Thursday, October 15, 2009 at Peace Lutheran Church, Raytown, Missouri. The Family will receive friends from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. Thursday, at the church. Patricipants in the funeral service are Pastor Keith B. Ratcliffe, officiant;Sylvia Ratcliffe,organist; Dave Loesch, vocalist; and Robert Chaney, bagpiper. Interment will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the City Cemetery in Higginsville, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, the Family suggests Memorials to Peace Lutheran Church or Immanuel Lutheran Radio Broadcast Fund, Higginsville, Missouri. Pallbearers include Chris Holman, Nathan Trussoni, Jon Pinnell, Jeff Taylor, Bruce Kessler and Maurice Lee Pitts. Arrangements are being handled by Hoefer Funeral Home, Inc.,
