Marietta Carroll

Marietta Carroll of Lexington, Missouri, passed away Saturday, June 25, 2011 at the Lexington Care Center, due to complications from heart disease an diabetes. Born Thursday, November 4, 1937 to Tom and Esther Atwood, Marietta had one brother, Tom Atwood, Jr. all who preceded her in death. She married Jack Carroll on April 23, 1960 and together enjoyed 51 years of marriage and raised two daughters, Reggie and Becky. Marietta worked outside the home for many years managing an engraving center in Independence, Missouri, then serving in administrative roles for Green Quarries and a local medical practice. She loved to cook and always said it was her Italian heritage that made her love to feed people. Because of that same heritage, she relished a good debate, and was known to seek out friends and acquaintances alike who were willing to deliberate the topics of the day. Marietta was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and a member of the Altar Society of the Church. Her love of life and colorful personality will be missed by those who survive her including her husband, Jack of the home; two daughters and their spouses, Reggie (Greg) Miller and Becky (Jerre) Snyder, all of Lexington; three grandchildren: Jenni Snyder of Siem Reap, Cambodia; Jamie (Alex) Snyder of Hebron, Kentucky; Jack Snyder of Lexington, Missouri; two great grandchildren; Cy and Cruz Snyder of Hebron, Kentucky. A Funeral service will held be at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at Hoefer Chapel located at 1600 Main St. Higginsville, Missouri 64037 with the Father Thomas Hawkins officiating. Interment will be in Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville. A Rosary will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday and the Family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 P.M. at the Hoefer Chapel.
