Mindy Joy Starke

Mindy Joy Starke, age 56 of Higginsville, Missouri passed away peacefully on Friday, January 3, 2014, at her home surrounded by family and friends. Born Tuesday, March 26, 1957 in Lexington, Missouri, she was the daughter of John William Starke and the late Peggy (Powell) Starke. She was a member of Salem United Church of Christ. Surviving are her parents, John W. (Maggie) Starke; two brothers, Rick (Angie) Davis of Blue Springs, Missouri, Alex (Sandy) Starke of Higginsville; three sisters, Rebecca (Robert) Bergsieker of Higginsville, Kathy Starke Shaul (Partner Valerie) of Kansas City, Missouri, Debbie Abbott of Blue Springs; 7 nieces, 9 nephews, 5 great nieces, 4 great nephews and a host of lifelong friends. Mindy was preceded in death by her mother, Peggy Starke; twin siblings in infancy, Stevan John and Stephanie Jane Starke; one brother, David Davis; and also by Sam, her beloved Sheltie and friend. Mindy was a 1975 graduate from Lafayette County C-1 High School. In 1983, she moved to Phoenix, Arizona and began working for Wendy's International in an entry level position, working her way up in this organization in both Phoenix and Dallas, Texas. Mindy was a recipient of The Dave Thomas Award from Wendy's International in 2000 as Western Regional Training Director . She leaves behind many dear friends and associates of the Wendy's community. In her free time, Mindy enjoyed shopping, girl's weekends, interior decorating and spending time with family and friends. Mindy returned to Higginsville in 2009 to spend her final years with family and friends. A Funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at Salem United Church of Christ, 1500 N. Main St. Higginsville with Rev. Tommy Faris officiating, Doris Jane Stoner as organist and Susan Moran as vocalist. Interment will be in the Higginsville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the Church. The Family suggests Memorials to the Lafayette County Cancer Coalition, Salem United Church of Christ, or Juvenile Diabetes Association. Pallbearers are Tim Bergsieker, Eric Bergsieker, Cory Starke, Drew Shaul, Nolan Wesche, Josh Rhodes, Devin Abbott, Ross Davis, Marcus Hayes, Zac Hayes and Matt Smith.
