Ruth Schumacher

Ruth Elizabeth Schumacher (Lamb), 95 of Higginsville, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at Ignite Medical Resort in Blue Springs, Missouri. Ruth was born on a farm north east of Warrensburg, MO. She was delivered by a country mid-wife to her loving parents William & Mary (Schumate) Lamb on Monday, March 19, 1928. Ruth began working in the nursing industry at the age of 14 in the Warrensburg Hospital during World War ll. She married Dudley Bratton on June 19, 1947 and three children were born from this union. At the age of 38 she earned her LPN and worked as the Nursing Supervisor for Meyer Care Center in Higginsville. She and Dudley divorced in 1978 and she worked as an office nurse for Dr. Fulkerson and the Wellington Clinic for 19 years. She married Monroe Schumacher on July 31, 1982 and he preceded her in death on July 12, 1988. During her retirement she traveled to multiple senior centers to provide community education from 1998 to 2015. Ruth was a member of the Happy Hookers Crochet Club and volunteered for the Classic Shop in Higginsville. She loved to cook and have family gatherings during the holidays. Ruth had a gift for serving others; her caring nature will be missed forever by all her friends and family. Surviving are one son, Bruce Bratton of Higginsville; one daughter, Barbara Wonderly of Higginsville; one brother-in-law, Billy Bob Bratton of Higginsville; one sister-in-law, Betty Lamb of Warrensburg; 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Monroe Schumacher; one ex-husband, Dudley Bratton; one son, Keith Bratton, and one brother, Bill Lamb. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Monday, September 11, 2023, at the Corder United Methodist Church, 316 N. Main St. Corder, Missouri. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM at the church. A lunch will be held at the church prior to interment in the Sunset Hills Cemetery, Warrensburg, MO. Casket Bearers: Cody Bratton, Cade Goettling, Steve Goettling, Daniel Morris, Kevin Williams, and Darin Wonderly. Memorials may be made out to Missouri State LPN Scholarship Fund or Corder Methodist Church.
