Alfred Henry William Dieckhoff, 96 of Higginsville, Missouri passed away Friday, December 31, 2021, at Meyer Care Center in Higginsville. He was born Tuesday, March 3, 1925 in Alma, Missouri, to George and Mary (Rolf) Dieckhoff. Al was drafted to the United States Army in 1944 and served in the Philippine Islands during World War II. At the end of his service, he returned home and farmed with his brother Harold before purchasing a farm south of Higginsville in 1950. Al married Lola (Kreisel) Dieckhoff on November 18, 1951 at the First Baptist Church in Sedalia, Missouri. She preceded him in death on October 8, 1987. He married Wilma (Fisher) Dieckhoff on January 1, 1993 at Salem United Church of Christ in Higginsville, Missouri. She preceded him in death on May 23, 2018. Al was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 223 in Higginsville; he held numerous offices on the local district and state level in the Legion. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans, a lifetime member of the VFW in Corder, and a member of the Salem United Church of Christ in Higginsville. Surviving are one son, Ellis (Teresa) Dieckhoff of Higginsville; two daughters, Valerie (Dwayne) Kile of Wesley Chapel, FL, Anita (Charlie) Pepin of Ocala, FL; five grandchildren, Stephanie Thaller-Morton of Estero, FL, Jason Dieckhoff of Garden City, MO, Kristin (Rob) Sullivan of Lee’s Summit, MO, Cameron (Chelsey) Dieckhoff of Higginsville, Branden (Ashley Haley) Vansel of South Carolina; seven great-grandchildren, Lola, Myla, Avery, Alaina, Dean, Gracie, Charlie; and many extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wives, Lola and Wilma; two brothers, Harold Dieckhoff and Willard "Bill" Dieckhoff; three sisters, Clara Meyer, Marie Kalthoff and Leona Krause; two granddaughters. Hannah & Emily Pepin. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at Stewart-Hoefer Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Salem United Church of Christ with Rev. Dr. Tommy Faris officiating. Interment will follow in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery with military honors. Casket Bearers: Jason Dieckhoff, Cameron Dieckhoff, Rob Sullivan, Ronnie Stoll, John Keeton, Rick Long, Everett Lovercamp, Gary Chastine. Honorary Casket Bearers: Harvey Erdman, J.W. Starke, Ray Don Paul, Jess Rasmussen. Memorial contributions may be made out to the American Legion or Salem U.C.C.
