Bubby Wonderly Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Lawrence Clinton “Bubby” Wonderly Jr., 75 of Higginsville, Missouri passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2022, at his home. He was born January 12, 1947 in New Brunswick, New Jersey to the late Lawrence Clinton Wonderly Sr. and the late Nina Jones (Baker). Bubby graduated from Higginsville High School - class of 1965, then enlisted in the United States Army. He proudly served his county as Private !st class Sharpshooter from 1966-1968. Soon after he joined the United States Army Reserves until 1972. He then attended CMSU and earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. He married Beverly Wonderly (Vorwark) on July 3, 1969. They spent 53 wonderful years together until her passing on May 11, 2022. Bubby worked as head of accounting for Lake City Ammunition Plant in Independence, Missouri for 35 years. He also worked at Willis and Jeanie’s as a bartender for a while. He was a simple man that loved playing men’s softball, bowling, and golfing. He was an avid collector of coins, stamps, and baseball caps. He enjoyed walking daily at the park and cruising around town in his truck. He was a huge sports fan that never missed a chance to root for his Kansas City Chiefs and MU Tigers. Bubby loved his family and friends enjoying every second he got to spend with them; he will be truly missed by all who came to know him. Surviving are two sons, Mike (Debra) Wonderly of Trumann, AR and Jeff Wonderly of Higginsville; two brothers, Steve (Darlene) Wonderly of Overland Park, KS and Gary(Ann) Jones of Blue Springs, MO; one sister-in-law, Barbara Wonderly; four grandchildren, Austin (Ashley) Wonderly, Dalton Wonderly, Rylen Wonderly, Tayler Wonderly; and one great-grandchild, Iyden Wonderly. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Beverly; and one brother, David Wonderly. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, July 22, 2022 at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery Chapel in Higginsville. Interment will follow the service. Memorial contributions may be made out to the Higginsville American Legion.
