Carole Lacen

April 5, 1941 - November 23, 2014

Carole Lacen, age 73 of Higginsville, Missouri died on Sunday, November 23, 2014, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Blue Springs, Missouri. Born Saturday, April 5, 1941 in Chicago, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late George Reid and the late Betty Fox. She and Bill Lacen were united in marriage September 24,1958. He preceded her in death December 20, 2012. Also preceding her in death are her adoptive parents who raised her, Charles and Velma Hood; and one sister, Barbara Finley. Carole and her family moved to Higginsville in 1967 and she was employed at the Higginsville Habilitation Center, retiring in 1994. She then worked on the support staff of Lafayette Co. Board of Sheltered Services for the past six and one half years. She was a member of Cedar Grove Christian Church in Mayview, Missouri. Surviving are two sons, Chuck (Dirinda) Lacen of Higginsville and Jeffrey Scott (Patti) Lacen of Euless, Texas; two daughters, Sherry (Gary) Baier of Higginsville and Sonya (Roclin) Terrell of North Kansas City, Missouri; three brothers, Glenn Hood of Lebanon, Missouri, George (Betty) Reid of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin and Jim Reid of Kansasville, Wisconsin; three sisters, Marilyn (Fred) Ellis of Plover, Wisconsin, Sharon (Duane) Brown of Davenport, Iowa and Audrey Hampton of Aurora, Illinois; 13 grandchildren, Travis (Callie) Baier of Springfield, Missouri, Shauna Souder, Jenna (Kyle) Johnson, Chelsea Lacen and Cameron Lacen all of Higginsville, Nick Reynolds, Jack Reynolds and Ricky Orellanes all of Euless, Texas, Briana (Phil) Gray, Ciara (Logan) Blankenship, Satchel Smith, Gabriella and Miles Terrell all of Kansas City, Missouri; and nine great grandchildren, Gage Baier, Ty Baier, Marley Baier, Remy Baier, Tavian Souder, Kanan Souder, Drew Gray, Will Gray, Nora Gray, and Karley Johnson. A Memorial service will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at the Hoefer Chapel, 1600 Main St. Higginsville with Rev. Dan Lowry officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Show Me Christian Youth Home, or the Cedar Grove Christian Church.
