Donald J. "Duck" Morris Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Donald J. "Duck" Morris, 90 of Higginsville, Missouri died on Monday, December 14, 2015, at Lafayette Regional Health Center in Lexington, Missouri. Born Wednesday, October 14, 1925 in Higginsville, Missouri, he was the son of the late Cyrus Matthew Morris and the late Elizabeth (Jung) Morris. He married Rosemary Kosmiski on June 9, 1950 and she preceded him in death on March 20, 2013. Also preceding him in death are two brothers, Conrad Jack Morris and W.S. Morris; two sisters, Eunice Morris and Mildred Vaughn. He served in the (Coast Guard) Merchant Marine from 1943 until 1945. He was a Veteran of World War II and a member of the Higginsville American Legion Post #223. Duck was a lifelong resident of Higginsville and served as City Treasurer under Mayor Buford Thurmon. He was a line supervisor at Lake City Army Ammunition Plant until retiring in 1980. His hobbies included fishing, wood working, deer, duck and turkey hunting. Surviving are two sons, Larry (Cindy) Morris of Higginsville, MO, Bill Morris (special friend Sabine Werning) of Higginsville, MO; one daughter, Diane (Gary) Hanson of Warsaw, MO; four grandchildren, Hollie (Randall) Medlin, Joshua (Katina) Hanson, Ryun (Megan) Morris and Austin Morris and six great grandchildren.. A funeral service will be at 1:30 PM on Friday, December 18, 2015 at the Hoefer Chapel with the Pastor Matt Limback officiating and Melody Coen, organist. Interment will be in City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM on Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be sent to Lafayette County Cancer Coalition.
