Dorothy Lee Bodenstab, 89 of Concordia, Missouri died on Saturday, April 29, 2017, at Lutheran Nursing Home in Concordia, Missouri. Born Thursday, December 8, 1927 in Higginsville, Missouri, she was the daughter of the late Lilburn Hickman and the late Laura Lefman Hickman. She lived most of her life in Alma, MO. She married Robert L. Bodenstab on May 7, 1950 and he preceded her in death on May 9, 1988. She moved to Concordia, MO in 2011. She was a member of Salem United Church of Christ.. She was a past member of the Higginsville Order of Eastern Star, the Four Square Club, Elk Grove Club and Beta Sigma Phi sorority. She had worked at the Alma Creamery and the Corner Shop, she was also an office manager at the Alma Telephone Company retiring in 1997. Surviving are one son, Ronnie Bodenstab of Higginsville, MO; two daughters, Janice (Roy) Johnson of York Town, VA, Cindy Soendker of Higginsville, MO; one sister, Betty Wienberg of Warrensburg, MO; four grandchildren, Lee (Shelley) Johnson, Robert (Lauren) Johnson, Ryan (Jennifer) Soendker & Cory (Mallory) Soendker; nine great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Robert; one brother, Harrel Hickman; one grandson, Brandon Von Bodenstab. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday at Salem United Church of Christ with the Rev. Dr. Tommy L. Faris officiating, Jamie Smith, organist and Gloria & Jerry Dieckhoff, vocalists. Interment will be in Salem Cemetery, Higginsville, MO. The family will receive friends from 6:30 PM to 8:00 AM on Tuesday, May 2, 2017, at Salem United Church of Christ.
