F.R. "Frosty" Hoefer Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

F. R. "Frosty" Hoefer, 89 of Higginsville, Missouri died on Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at Meyer Care Center in Higginsville. Born Thursday, January 10, 1929 in Higginsville, he was the son of the late Forest A. Hoefer and the late Gloria Boehme Hoefer. He graduated high school from Kemper Military School and was a graduate of Williams Institute of Mortuary Science in Kansas City, Kansas, class of 1947. He served in the United States Army and was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a life long resident of Higginsville and was involved with many areas of the community. A big part of his life was flying planes and loved being a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, he was a former Higginsville Aldermen, he was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, he was a former member of the Higginsville American Legion Post #223, he was a 32nd Degree Mason, and served as a former board member for the Citizens Telephone Company. He had his real estate brokers license and served other funeral home owners with the sale of their funeral homes. He took over Hoefer Funeral Home Inc. as owner in 1976 until his retirement in 1989. Surviving are caring companion, Darlene Overstreet; two sons, Sevier Hoefer of Higginsville and Al Hoefer of Higginsville; one daughter, Cozette Hoefer of Higginsville; three grandchildren, Nick Hoefer, Colby Hoefer, Sarah Mattson; five great grandchildren, Blake Mattson, Lily Mattson, Lucas Hoefer, Angelina Hoefer, Jack Hoefer. He was preceded in death by one sister, Gloria Stewart; and one grandchild, Rob Hoefer. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Grace United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mary Biesemeyer officiating. Interment will follow the service in the Higginsville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM on Saturday, July 21, 2018, at Grace United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions may be sent to Grace United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer's Association.
