June 14, 1949 - January 8, 2022

He was born Tuesday, June 14, 1949 in Warrensburg, Missouri, to the late James Newland and the late Zoel (Scott) Newland. Tommy was a graduate of Mayview High School in Mayview, Missouri. He worked as a commercial truck driver for Yellow Freight and was a member of the Teamsters Local Union 63. He also was a farmer and at one time farmed over 1000 acres of land in Mayview. He cherished his yearly horseback elk hunts in Colorado. Every year he looked forward to his elk hunting trip with his friends; and his son, Scott was lucky enough to join him several times. He enjoyed traveling to Daytona and Sturgis for motorcycle trips. After retirement he liked to stay busy; he enjoyed playing pool and poker with friends. He even drove a taxi for a while. Tommy will be sorely missed by his family and friends that loved him dearly. Surviving are special friend, Cheryl Sharp of Kansas City; two sons, Scott Newland (Amanda Lubinski) of Odessa, MO and Danny Hedrick of Independence, MO; three daughters, Michelle (Billy) Shier of Higginsville, MO, Jamie (David) Salvo of Wentzville, MO and Cassie (Will) Box of Kansas City, MO; one sister, Ann Newland of Arkansas; six grandchildren, Ross (Brooke) Shier, Shelby (Zach) Fisher, Zoey Shier, Brighton Fleetwood, William Fleetwood, Christian Fleetwood, Bailey Box, Cayson Box, Brenten Runyon, Abigail Runyon; three great-grandchildren, Noah, Dawson and Henry.
