John C. Johnson, age 83, of Higginsville, Missouri died on Sunday, February 24, 2013, at his home in Higginsville. Born Friday, June 7, 1929 in Higginsville, Missouri, he was the son of the late John Eugene Johnson and the late Ella Marie Schowengerdt Johnson. A lifelong resident of Higginsville, he was a professional truck driver for several companies including Sentury Hardware after serving in the United States Air Force. He was a member of the Central Christian Church, the American Legion Post #223 serving as Chaplain, and also a charter member of the Order of DeMolay for boys in Higginsville. He married Kathleen M. "Katz" Morgan on July 3, 1954 who preceded him in death on July 5, 2006. Also preceded in death are 3 brothers, Jack, Bob and Eugene Johnson and one sister, Virginia Gelhken. Surviving are sons, Jerry C. (Carolyn) Johnson of Odessa, MO and Jody C. Johnson of Higginsville, MO, daughter, Susan Marie (Garret) Rinne of Blue Springs, MO, sister, Dorothy Perry; 4 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren. A funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Friday at Hoefer Funeral Home located at 1600 Main St. Higginsville, Missouri 64037 with Pastor Betty Thaller officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in City Cemetery, Higginsville, MO. Memorial contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Socity and the American Legion Post #223.
