Kenneth A. Holmes Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Kenneth A. Holmes, 79 of Higginsville, Missouri died on Tuesday, December 15, 2015, at The Groves in Independence, Missouri. Born Wednesday, January 1, 1936 in Keota, Iowa, he was the son of the late Kenneth Edward Holmes and the late Edna Glee McGovern Holmes. Kenneth enlisted in the United States Air Force on January 3, 1955 and served during the Korean War. He earned the rank of Staff Sargeant. He and Patty S. LaRue were married on June 7, 1959; they moved to Higginsville in 1965 after being honorably discharged from the USAF on December 1, 1965. He owned and operated Holmes Body Shop in Higginsville for many years and was also a member of Faith Baptist Church. Surviving are son, John E. Holmes of Ashland, MO, daughter, C. Kay Geers of Ashland, MO; 2 grandsons, Jared (Kayla) Geers and Zachary Geers. He was preceded in death by 4 sisters, Barbara Stoner, Helen Harding, Marilyn Smith and Peggy DeWitte. A Funeral service will be at 2:30 PM on Saturday, December 19 at Hoefer Chapel located at 1600 Main St. Higginsville, Missouri 64037. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:30 PM. Interment will be in City Cemetery, Higginsville, MO.
