Larry Wayne Heaper, 77 of Higginsville, Missouri took the Heavenly bus to eternity on Sunday, August 1, 2021, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center. He was born Friday, August 27, 1943 in Marshall, Missouri, and was the son of the late Irvin Heaper and the late Verena (Hemme) Heaper. Larry married Sherry (Goetz) Heaper on October 2, 1965 and spent 55 wonderful years together. He was a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Emma, Missouri but attended Central Christian Church in Higginsville the last half of his life. Larry worked as a farmer on the family farm in Emma until 1985. He then spent his career working for MFA as a Bulk Fuel Plant Manager and a Custom Applicator Sprayer. Larry found his passion in life at 18 years old when he started driving the school bus for Holy Cross Lutheran School in Emma. Larry's love of bus driving and serving the community led him to drive for Camp Quality, Band Boosters with band trips, Special Olympics, and the Higginsville School District. Larry was a service oriented person who loved transporting children safely to school and to events all over the state. He was an avid card player and was always up for a game night with family and friends. Larry and Sherry spent 40 years traveling the country in their RV together during their free time. They loved camping in State Parks and campgrounds, meeting new friends at the parks, and enjoying time with all their friends and family. Larry was a devoted husband and a loving father. The family will cherish all the laughs and great memories of such a great man. He will truly be missed by anyone who came to know him. Surviving are his wife, Sherry Heaper of the home; one son, David Heaper (Darla Weaver) of Higginsville; one daughter, Amy Heaper of Higginsville; one sister, Sharon (Jim) Combs of Independence, MO; two grandchildren, Logan and Trinity Weaver. He was preceded in death by his parents; and infant twin children, Steven and Carla Heaper. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, August 5, 2021, at Central Christian Church, 16 W. 20th St. Higginsville, Missouri. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 6, 2021 at Central Christian Church with Rev. Jerry Basye officiating. Burial will follow in the Holy Cross Lutheran Cemetery in Emma, MO where Larry will take his last bus ride to be laid to rest next to the infant twins. Honorary Casket Bearers: Doug Brockert, Trinity Weaver, Jeremy Hoefer, Logan Weaver, Rodney Heaper, Darren Combs. Larry was passionate about serving his community and providing for the youth.
