LaVerne M. Rhodes Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

LaVerne Margaret Rhodes (Harms), 89 of Higginsville, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2020, at Meyer Care Center in Higginsville. Born Monday, June 2, 1930 in Cole Camp, Missouri, she was the daughter of the late Harry Harms and the late Bertha Harms (Bremer). LaVerne married Jack Rhodes on August 23, 1958, and they were married 57 years before he preceded her in death on January 1, 2015. LaVerne graduated from Alma High School. She dedicated herself to being a mother, wife, and homemaker. Her faith and family came before all. She was an active member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and enjoyed being a part of many church activities through the years. LaVerne was an avid seamstress in her spare time, sewing wedding dresses and altering clothes for friends and many people of the community. She enjoyed gardening, her grandchildren's sporting events, and playing cards with friends. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. LaVerne was a simple and humble women that above all loved her family. She will be greatly missed. Surviving are one son, Stan (Vicky) Rhodes of Corder, MO; one daughter, Jackie Wright of Fremont Hills, MO; one brother, Kenneth (Kathy) Harms of Ionia, MO; one sister, Ruthie Kerksiek of Cole Camp, MO; five grandchildren, Madie (Dane) Plymell, Bailey (Atticus) Dyer, Mason (Missy) Rhodes, Spencer Rhodes, Beau (Katie) Ryun; seven great-grandchildren, Marley and Dax Plymell, Roman, Ian, and Laurel Dyer, Ellie, and Emmie Ryun. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack Rhodes; two brothers, James Harms and Dennis Harms; four sisters, Dorene Martens, Betty Jean Pritzel, Mary Ann Childress and Lois Harms. A private graveside service with interment will be held in the Higginsville City Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Jack. Memorial contributions may be made out to Immanuel Lutheran Church and sent to Hoefer Funeral Home 1600 Main St. Higginsville Missouri 64037.
