Marjorie Y. "Margie" Rankin, age 62 of Higginsville, Missouri died on Thursday, January 2, 2014, at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. Born Monday, December 10, 1951 in Higginsville, Missouri, she was the daughter of Ralph Franklin and Dorothy (Beck) Franklin. She and Richard D. Rankin were united in marriage on Saturday, June 14, 1969. Margie worked as head cook at Grandview Elementary School, retiring in 2013. She lived most of her life in Higginsville and was a 1969 graduate of Lafayette Co. C-1 High School. A member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, she served on Stewardship Committee, was a member of the Altar Society, served as Eucharist minister, and served as past director and teacher of religious education classes. Surviving are her husband, Rick Rankin of the home in Higginsville; her parents, Ralph and Doris Franklin of Higginsville; three sons, Chad (Jennifer) Rankin and Matt (Allison) Rankin, both of Concordia, Missouri; Nick (Kalani) Rankin of Higginsville; three daughters, Jenny (Dwayne) Jackson of Blue Springs, Missouri, Rachel (Junior) Webb and Mallory (Joe) Holtcamp, both of Higginsville; two brothers, Gary Franklin of Ferndale, Michigan, Chris Franklin of Kansas City, Missouri; one sister, Judy (Bob) Quarti of Higginsville; 20 grandchildren, Katy, Abby, Noah, Elijah, Emme, Laini, Evan , Ethan, Trenton, Audrey, Brodie and Jace Rankin; Brendan and Brooke Jackson; Olivia Fulcher; Shelby, Ellie and Josie Webb; Owyn and Greta Holtcamp; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, January 6,2 014 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 401 W. Broadway St., Higginsville with Father Thomas Hawkins as Celebrant, Virginia Graham as organist. Interment will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, January 5, 2014, at the Church with a Rosary at 5:30 P.M. The Family suggests Memorials to the Lafayette Co.Cancer Coalition or St. Mary's PSR (Sunday School) Program.
