Nathan Goring

Nathan Albert Goring, 95 of Higginsville, Missouri passed away on Friday, October 1, 2021, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Nursing Home in Concordia, Missouri. He was born Wednesday, November 11, 1925 in Mayview, Missouri, and was the son of the late Edward Goring and the late Edith Goring (Reynolds). He was the husband of the late Martha Goring. Nathan attended Mayview High School, and soon after joined the United States Army. He served as a Heavy Machine Gunner in the Army from 1944 until 1945 and was a veteran of World War II. He spent his working career working for Ford at the assembly plant. Nathan was a proud member of Faith Baptist Church and was a licensed minister. He served as church pastor while the church was in between pastors. Nathan and Martha spent twenty plus years snowbirding to Texas during our winters and enjoyed traveling to visit family. While in Texas Nathan and Martha met many friends and served on mission trips throughout Texas and Mexico. Nathan enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially for trout in the Utah mountains. Those left to celebrate his memory are three sons, Leonard (Elaine) Goring of Higginsville, Rick (Brenda) Goring of Higginsville, Ronnie (Connie) Goring of Warrensburg, MO; one daughter-in-law, Barbara Goring of Higginsville; ten grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Martha; one son, David Goring; two grandchildren, Candace Goring and Bridget Goring; one daughter-in-law, Ula Goring. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at Stewart-Hoefer Funeral Home, 1600 Main St., Higginsville, Missouri. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM with Rev. Jeremy Herbert officiating. Burial will follow in the Higginsville City Cemetery. Casket Bearers: Rocky Evans, Jason Goring, John Goring, Phillip Goring, Dave Johnson, Spenser Johnson. Memorials may be made out to Beacon of Hope Hospice.
