PeeWee Woods

October 24, 1939 - November 12, 2021

Wilburn "PeeWee" R. Woods, 82 of Higginsville, Missouri passed away on Friday, November 12, 2021, at Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg, Missouri. He was born Tuesday, October 24, 1939 in Higginsville, and was the son of the late Wilburn Woods and the late Ruth Woods (Fields). He attended Higginsville High School before joining the United States Marine Corps. PeeWee proudly served his country from 1957-1960 earning the rank of Lance Corporal. He married Annerose Woods (Moll) on July 6, 1983 and spent 38 wonderful years together. He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ. PeeWee worked for Lake City Ammunition Plant for 32 years. PeeWee was an active man, always staying busy. He loved to fish, work in the yard, and enjoyed hunting. His favorite pastime was hanging out at Annerose's beauty shop cleaning and talking to all the customers. He never missed a chance to stop and talk. He always had a smile and a story to tell. PeeWee served his community with complete sincerity and commitment. He helped anyone that needed it and started every day with positivity. PeeWee loved his family, the armed forces, and he enjoyed helping others. He will not only be missed by his friends and family, but his entire community will feel the loss of such a great man. Surviving are his wife, Annerose Woods of the home; two sons, George Bass of Columbia, MO, Leroy Gilbert of Ozark, MO; three daughters, Kim Woods of Kansas City, MO, Silvia Steele of Branson, MO, Christine J. Gilbert of Sarasota, FL; one sister, Debra Woods of Overland Park, KS; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Nettie Woods and Betty Woods. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at Stewart-Hoefer Funeral Home 1600 Main St. Higginsville, Missouri. A graveside service with military honors will follow at 2:00 PM in the Missouri Veterans Chapel with Rev. Dr. Tommy Faris officiating. Casket Bearers: George Bass, Jacob Moll, Leroy Gilbert, Eric Gilbert. Memorials may be made out to Family Choice.
