Dennis Ray "Pete" Frerking, 77 of Higginsville, Missouri passed away on Friday, June 11, 2021, at St. Luke's East Hospital in Lee's Summit, Missouri. He was born Sunday, November 7, 1943 in Higginsville, and was the son of the late Leland Frerking and the late Lorine (Werning) Frerking. Pete attended Zion Lutheran School and was a graduate of Corder High School. He attended Concordia Teachers College in Seward, Nebraska, where he played both baseball and basketball. Upon graduation from college, he taught and coached at Holy Cross Lutheran School in Collinsville, Ill. Pete returned to Corder to operate Frerking Elevator with his father, and later his brother. He married Sherry (Grace) Frerking on December 28, 1980 and she survives of the home. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, the Corder Fire Department, served as Mayor, and coached little league baseball. He was an avid slow-pitch softball player, spending many nights and weekends traveling to tournaments with his friends. Pete was a very loyal Cardinals fan, and as a Mizzou Tiger fan, was a hater of all things Jayhawk. Pete greatly enjoyed coaching basketball at Immanuel Lutheran School, and was known for his knowledge and patience. He took great pride in watching his children and grandchildren at musicals, track meets, ball games, and also captained many voyages on Lake of the Ozarks. “Papa Pete” loved to watch his grandkids sing, dance, play ball, and was always a fixture at their events. Pete will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Surviving are wife, Sherry of the home; one son, Andy Frerking of Concordia, MO; two daughters, Sarah Frerking of San Diego, CA, Lindsey (Andy) Pulverenti of Higginsville; one brother, Dale (Mary) Frerking of Corder, MO; two sisters, Lois Frerking of Pittsburg, PA, Kathy (Thom) Hahn of Merrill, WI; and six grandchildren, Rachel Stacy, Brandon Stacy, Alex Frerking, Sydney Pulverenti, Anderson Frerking, Annalynn Pulverenti. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Dan Frerking; and one sister, Anita Goring. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Monday, June 14, 2021, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Higginsville. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Kurt Brandon officiating. Burial will follow in the Higginsville City Cemetery. Casket bearers: Gary Bauer, Ted Draper, Jim Frerking, Doug Link, Randy Lovercamp, Rodney Roepe. Honorary casket bearers: all his nephews. Memorial contributions may be sent to Immanuel Lutheran School.
