Polfer, Glenn Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Willard Glenn Polfer of Lebanon, Missouri formerly of Independence, Missouri departed this life on June 29, 2014 in Springfield, Missouri surrounded by family following a short hospitalization. Glenn, as he was known to family and friends, was born on December 19, 1941 to Willard E. Polfer and Mildred M. (Fitzgerald) Polfer in Stillwell, Kansas. He lived much of his life in Independence. Glenn served proudly in the U.S. Army as an artillery forward observer during the Viet Nam War. Prior to and following his military service, Glenn worked for General Motors for 35 years. He was a member of UAW Local 31 and Life Christian Center in Lee's Summit, Missouri. Glenn is survived by a daughter, Shellie Mitchell and her husband Paul of Lebanon; two sons, Russell Polfer, and his wife Patricia, and Dennis Polfer all of Independence; two sisters, Karen Born and Rhonda Swayze both of Independence; one brother, Kevin Hugill of Blue Springs, Missouri; nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Graveside services will be held at the Missouri Veterans Chapel, Higginsville, Missouri Monday July 7, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. The family requests those attending to wear blue, Glenn's favorite color.
