Robert J. Sander

Robert J. Sander, age 77 of Higginsville, Missouri died on Sunday, February 17, 2013, at Lafayette Regional Health Center in Lexington, Missouri. Born Wednesday, February 20, 1935 in Mayview, Missouri, he was the son of Willie J. Sander and Emma (Redhage) Sander. He married Evelyn K. (Hill) Cretzmeyer September 2, 1976. Mr. Sander was a farmer and resident of the Higginsville area for over 50 years. He graduated from Odessa High School in 1953. He also served in the Army Reserves for a number of years. He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ where he served as past president of the Church Council, formerly served on the Lafayette County Fair Board and Lafayette County Extension Council. He was past president of Lafayette County Cattleman's Association, and a current board member of the Public Water Supply District. Those who preceded him in death are his parents, and a brother, Delbert Sander. Surviving are his wife, Evelyn of the home in Higginsville; three sons, Duane (Brenda) Sander of Smithville, Missouri, Scott Cretzmeyer of Higginsville and Kevin Sander of Kansas City, Missouri; two daughters, Donna (Jim) Hesketh of Golden, Colorado, Paula (Bill) Oelrichs of Higginsville, one sister, Sharon (Charles) Funk of Shawnee, Kansas, sister-in-law, Dorothy Sander of Branson, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Katie Hesketh, Alex Hesketh, Cody Sander, Colin Sander, Clarice Sander, Abigail Oelrichs, and Cole Oelrichs. A Funeral service will be at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at Salem United Church of Christ,1500 N. Main St. Higginsville, Missouri with Pastor Betty Thaller and Pastor Tim Biesemeyer officiating. Interment will be in Salem Cemetery, Higginsville. The family will receive friends from 6:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the church. The Family suggests Memorials to Salem United Church of Christ or Lafayette County Cattleman's Scholarship Fund. Pallbearers are Mike Vahrenberg, Dale Hilgedick, Darrel Rinne, Albert Limback, Harvey Jungerman, Charles Marcks, Dennis Knipmeyer and Bob Jarman.
