Terry R. Abney, 65 of Higginsville, Missouri died on Monday, October 19, 2015, at St. Luke's Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri. Born Monday, July 10, 1950 in Cheyenne, Wyoming, he was the son of the late Lloyd Abney and Audrey (Kramer) Abney. He married Cynthia (Tyree) Abney on November 18, 1972 and she survives of the home.. He was a member of First Baptist Church where he was a deacon, sunday school teacher and an RA leader. Terry was a 1968 graduate of Higginsville High School. He earned a BA degree in Business and Accounting from CMSU in 1972 . He was a member of the Higginsville Country Club, former member of the Higginsville Jaycees, served on the Higginsville Park Board, was a member of the Lafayette Co. C-1 Band Boosters, and a member of MCCGA. He was a buyer for ATK Lake City Arsenal until retiring on February 12, 2015. Surviving are one son, Bryan (Cara) Abney of Concordia, MO; two daughters, Heather Abney and Courtney Abney both of Independence, MO; mother, Audrey Abney of Higginsville; brother, Steve (Cathy) Abney of Warrensburg, MO; sister, Dawn (Kevin) Sanders of Higginsville, MO; seven grandchildren, Hunter Wilckens, Tanner Crawford, Tatum Abney, Ryder Wilckens-Abney, Karleigh Wilckens, Kynleigh Abney and Thadius Abney. A Funeral service will be at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, October 22, 2015 at the First Baptist Church with the Dr. Greg Fine officiating, Martha Pollard, organist and Dennis Million, vocalist. Interment will be in the City Cemetery, Higginsville, MO. The family will receive friends from 6:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at Hoefer Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be sent to First Baptist Church Higginsville, MO 64037, St. Luke's Hospice House and MCCGA Scholarship Fund. Casketbearers are Daryl Garton, Casey Sanders, Cody Sanders, Jake Johnson, Marshall Abney, Rick Smith, Chris Putnam and John Sullivan.
