Wesley "Swede" Nelson

Wesley "Swede" Nelson, age 81 of Corder, Missouri died on Sunday, November 21, 2010, at Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg, Missouri. Born Wednesday, December 12, 1928 in Creighton, Nebraska, he was the son of the late Nels Edward Nelson and the late Ruth Brokaw Nelson. Also preceded in death are two brothers, Howard Nelson & Galen Nelson. He served as a Sgt. in the Air Force from 1946 until 1949. He worked as a truck driver for Supersweet Feeds, retiring in 1991. He lived in Corder since 1985. He was a member of the Higginsville American Legion Post #223 and the Corder Lions Club. Surviving are longtime companion, Linda Gavin of Corder; son, Michael (Dawn) Nelson of Higginsville, Missouri; daughter, Carrie(Chuck) Gifford of Holden, Missouri; four stepsons, Mark Gavin of Benton, Arkansas; Paul Gavin of Bauxite, Arkansas; Todd(Teresa) Gavin of Bauxite; Jason (Ilena) Gavin of Benton, Arkansas; brother, Dale(Peggy) Nelson of Fristow, Missouri; three stepbrothers, Jerry (Joyce) Jensen of Corder, Eugene Jensen of Orrick, Missouri, Joseph Jensen of Japan; sister, Anita Rector of Concordia, Missouri; 15 grand children; 29 great grand children. A Funeral service will be at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, November 26, 2010 at Hoefer Chapel with the Pastor Michael Tipton officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Corder. The family will receive friends from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. on Friday at Hoefer Chapel.Memorial contributions may be sent to National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
