Betty M. Souder

Betty M. Souder, age 88 of Higginsville, Missouri died on Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at Meyer Care Center in Higginsville. Born Friday, April 2, 1926 in Higginsville, she was the daughter of the late William Carter Rogers and the late Myrtle Mae (Gunter) Rogers. She and Lee F. Souder, Jr. were united in marriage November 23, 1944. He preceded her in death April 8, 2005. Also preceding her in death are six brothers, Bill, Fred, Alfred, Carl, Marvin and Bob Rogers; and one sister, Helen Daniels. Mrs. Souder was a lifelong resident of Higginsville and a 1944 graduate of Higginsville High School. She worked at International Shoe Co., then as secretary at Mattingly Brothers in Lexington, Missouri for 33 years and retiring in 2014 from the Higginsville Foster Grandparent Program where she worked as secretary for 28 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Higginsville. Surviving are one son, Gary (Karen) Souder of Higginsville; two daughters, Cheryl Kelly of Higginsville, Lana Schulze of Concordia, Missouri; one brother, Glenn Rogers of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee; three sisters, Nadine Stuerke of Higginsville, Hazel Nadler of Lenexa, Kansas, Donna (Ernie) Meyers of Concordia, Missouri; six grandchildren, Lisa(Greg) Soendker, Lori Kelly, Kaz Souder, Kory Souder, Andy(Raechel) Schulze, Tracy(John) Bobzin; 13 great grandchildren, Racheal Soendker, Kelly Price, Katie Price, Kasea Price, Korrine Price, Tavian Souder, Kanan Souder, Elijah, Asher and Ruby Schulze, Jules, Christian and Gracie Bobzin; and one great-great granddaughter, Madilynne Kiff. A Funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, July 18, 2014 at the First Baptist Church, 1907 Peach St. Higginsville with Dr. Greg Fine officiating, Marsha Madole as organist and Dennis Million as vocalist. Interment will be in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. on Friday prior to the service.
