Donald Neher

Donald Martin Neher, 92, of Higginsville, Missouri, passed away Friday, November 11, 2022, at Meyer Care Center. He was born Wednesday, May 21, 1930, in Mayview, Missouri, and was the son of the late John Neher, and the late Hilda (Knollenberg) Neher. On July 1, 1980, he married Charlotte Miller, and they spent the next 42 years together. Donald farmed his entire life, even while holding a full-time job at Lake City Ammunition Plant for ten of those years. Family was important to him, and he enjoyed traveling with them. He loved extended family and took his children on many trips to stay connected to all their relatives. His children have priceless memories of all the vacations, sightseeing, and traveling they did together. Donald taught his children many of life’s valuable lessons and instilled the importance of common sense. Donald enjoyed socializing with friends. He and Charlotte traveled to Mexico every year for over 30 years. For several years their vacations consisted of touring across the U.S. with friends, heading east one year, and west the next. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Corder, Missouri. Surviving are wife, Charlotte, of the home; two daughters, Ellen (Jerry) Gregg, of Cerro Gordo, IL, and Martene (Donnie) Thiel of Marshall, MO; five step-children, Greg (Reggie) Miller, of Lexington, MO, Ronald (Teresa) Miller of Tonganoxie, KS, Janet Miller of Platte City, MO, Donna (Tim) Biesemeyer of Higginsville, LeAnne (Brent) McGinness, of Pensacola, FL; two sisters, Ailene Link of Colorado Springs, CO, Jackie Meinershagen of Higginsville; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, John Neher III; brother, John Neher II; and sister, Leuita Mathowitz. In the end, Donald blessed the world by donating his body to the University of Missouri School of Medicine. A visitation will be held Wednesday, November 16, 2022, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Stewart-Hoefer Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, November 17, 2022, at Zion Lutheran Church in Corder. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Zion Lutheran Church, Corder, MO.
