Fae Franke

Fae Franke, age 101 of Higginsville, Missouri died on Friday, June 1, 2012, at Meyer Care Center in Higginsville. Born Tuesday, January 17, 1911 in Concordia, Missouri, she was the daughter of the late Martin Tieman and the late Lena Evert Tieman. Also preceded in death are her husband, Hubert on March 7, 1989; two brothers, Ervin Tieman and Martin Tieman; and four sisters, Adelia Brockman, Freda Kramer, Olga Heyembrock, and Nola Klingenberg. Mrs. Franke was baptized and confirmed in the Bethel Evangelical and Reformed Church in Concordia and graduated from Concordia Public High School. She loved playing basketball. She lived with her sister, Deal and her husband in Kansas City, Missouri and worked in an office at Montgomery Ward. Fae married Hubert Franke August 2, 1930. They lived on a farm near Bates City when Barbara was five years old and became foster parents to four homeless children for one year. Later, they lived in in Independence, Missouri before moving to Higginsville in 1944. She worked as a cook at Lafayette County C-1 High School, retiring in 1981. After retiring, she volunteered as a foster grandparent at the Higginsville Habilitation Center for 15 years. She was a member of Salem United Church of Christ in Higginsville and a member of the Salem Women's Fellowship. Surviving are one daughter, Barbara (Donald) Siegfried of Higginsville, three grandchildren, Mike (Sherri) Siegfried, Lisa (Tim) Cowan, Jim (Andrea) Siegfried; eight great grandchildren, Jared Siegfried, Shane Siegfried, Anthony Cowan, Matthew Cowan, Mikayla Cowan, Joshua Cowan, Patrick Siegfried, Lydia Siegfried; and one great granddaughter, Riley Yingling. A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, June 4, 2012 at Salem United Church of Christ,1501 Main St. Higginsville with Rev. Michael Christensen officiating and Doris Jane Stoner, organist. Interment will be in Salem Cemetery, Higginsville. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. on Monday at the Church. Memorial contributions are to Salem United Church of Christ or Salem Cemetery Fund.
