Kevin Gray

Kevin John Gray, 45 of Bates City, Missouri passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at his home. He was born Thursday, January 19, 1978 in Kansas City, Missouri. Kevin lived in southern California until he was 13 and always missed the sun and beautiful weather he grew up with. He then moved to Raytown, MO where he attended Raytown South High School. Kevin was outgoing, smart, and playful. He truly was always just a big kid at heart. Kevin was the proud father of Blake, Kelsey, and Keylea Gray. On September 15, 2018, Kevin married Kandice Gray and his family grew to include Emma and Grant. When Kevin wasn’t working construction, you would find him playing. Kevin’s love for sports was unrivaled. He would never turn down the chance to go out in the yard to shoot hoops in the driveway or play a game of catch. Or you could find him playing a round of golf with his buddies. He spent countless hours coaching his children's basketball, baseball, and football teams. He took great pride in watching them develop a love of the game and believed sports provided an opportunity to build moral character. Kevin was also a faithful fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and never missed a chance to get together with friends and family to watch the games. Most of all he would want to be remembered for his love and devotion to his wife, children, and family. He would have gone to the ends of the earth for them. He was always his children’s loudest fan. His unexpected absence will be felt forever by all the loved ones he leaves behind. Surviving are his wife, Kandice Gray of the home; his children, Blake Gray, Kelsey Gray, Keylea Gray of Wellington, MO and Emma Lewis, Grant Collins of Bates City; one sister, Sheila Brown of Independence, MO; one brother, Joshua (Cheryl) Gray of Raymore, MO; nieces & nephews, Ashton Diels, Hailey (Matthew) Moylan, Tyler Gray, Hannah Gray, Ethan Gray. He is preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Richardson. The family will receive friends for a visitation and viewing from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, August 10, 2023, at Stewart-Hoefer Funeral Home, 1600 Main St. Higginsville, Missouri. A Celebration of Life Social will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at C. Lee Kenagy Park located at 7834 Raytown Rd. Kansas City, MO 64138.
