Margaret Hackett

Margaret Norene Hackett (Manning), 89 of Lee's Summit, Missouri died on Wednesday, March 3, 2021, at the Wilshire at Lakewood Care Center in Lee's Summit. She was born Wednesday, November 11, 1931 in Odessa, Missouri, and was the daughter of the late Roy Manning and the late Susan (Wilkerson) Manning. Margaret married William Hackett on January 4,1953. He preceded her in death on April 9, 2006. Margaret and William lived on a farm north of Higginsville. They had seven children over a span of eleven years. In 1963 they relocated to the Raytown/Independence area. Margaret worked for Bendix (Honeywell) in Kansas City, Missouri in the maintenance and custodial department. Seven children consumed most of her time but in her free time Margaret enjoyed gardening and canning. They always had a garden everywhere they lived. Church was very important to Margaret as well; she always made sure the kids went to church on Sundays. She devoted her entire life to being the best mom for her kids and a loyal wife to William. Family was very important to her and she cared deeply for her family. She will be remembered as a loving wife, caring mother, and doting grandmother. Surviving are five sons, Dennis (Debbie) Hackett of Leawood, KS, Bruce (Dana) Hackett of Henderson, NV, Billy Hackett of Independence, MO, Roy (Jennifer) Hackett of Gladstone, MO, Henry (Lori) Hackett of Springfield, MO; two daughters, Jennie (Steve) Oetting of Independence, Debbie Schmidt of Springfield; twelve grandchildren, Dustin Hackett, Dylan Hackett, Benjamin Hackett, Shannon Hackett, Zeus Hackett, Jang Hye Ree, Shawna Hackett, Timothy Hackett, Brock (Lauren) Oetting, Rachel (Ethan) Welch, Danny (Alicia) Ferguson, Brad (Sarah) Ferguson; seven great-grandchildren, Dalton, Ayden, Jordan, Alli, Caleb, Lili, Natalie. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William; one brother, Jake Manning; and one sister, Marie Rivers. A private funeral service will be held at Corder Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Vanlanker officiating. A public graveside service will be held Saturday, March 6, 2021 at 11:00 AM in Calvary Cemetery, Corder, MO.
