Ruby Case

Ruby Mae Case, 80 of Higginsville, Missouri passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2024, at her home. Ruby was born Sunday, September 5, 1943 in Whitewater, Wisconsin, to the late Walter Zimmerman and Ethel (Box) Zimmerman. Ruby graduated high school in Whitewater, WI and in 1965 she moved to Lexington, MO. On July 10, 1971, Ruby and Jim Case were united in marriage. She was most known for being so instrumental in the handicapped accessibility at schools due to her son’s James’ disability. Ruby was affectionately called “mom” by her many bonus children. Ruby was known to always have bargains at her garage sales. She loved country music shows. She looked forward to her Wednesday morning coffee with friends, especially after her late nights of reading books until three in the morning. Ruby loved pranking people and having fun. She was known to love a good scratcher lottery ticket and the gas station attendants even knew which ones she wanted before she told them. She was always willing to help and lend a hand. Ruby enjoyed her staff and doctors that assisted her. The family wishes to express their gratitude of appreciation to all of the Gentle Moments Staff for everything they have done for her son, James. Ruby will be greatly missed by all who knew her loving and caring personality. Surviving are three sons, Jeffery (Li Ching) Lucht of Independence, MO, Jerry (Kim) Lucht of Oak Grove, MO and James T. Case of Higginsville; four daughters, Laurie (LeeAnn) Buehler of Higginsville, Lisa (David) Key of Richmond, MO, Lynda (Jerry) Huffman of Bates City, MO and Jennie (Matt) Runyan of Higginsville; brother, Danny Zimmerman of Whitewater, WI; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, Robert Zimmerman, Earnest Zimmerman and Kenneth Zimmerman; and one sister Carol Jean Zimmerman. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at Stewart-Hoefer Funeral Home, 1600 Main St. Higginsville. Private interment for the family will be held on Friday, June 7, 2024 in the Higginsville City Cemetery. Memorials may be made out to the family for the care of James Case.
