Violet Wegener

Violet Elizabeth Wegener (McCoy), 82 of Higginsville, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was born Sunday, April 7, 1940 in Collins, Missouri, to the late Ernest McCoy and the late Anna McCoy. She married William "Bill" Wegener on September 12, 1959; and they spent 63 wonderful years together. He preceded her in death on October 4, 2022. Violet spent 15 years working at the Higginsville Garment Factory and some at the Odessa Shoe Factory. She had 25+ years working for the Lake City Ammunition Plant. After completing the 8th grade, Violet left school to help care for her siblings. This is where her love for caregiving began. She was one of 16 children and learned at a very early age how important family is. She cared for her parents, her siblings, and countless others over the course of her life. Just a few weeks after her beloved Bill passed away, she traveled to Branson to care for her ailing sister, Sylvia until her passing. She would drop everything to take care of anyone that needed it. She was a wife, mother and grandmother at heart; her family was everything to her and spending time with them was when she was the happiest. She loved to travel with Bill. They enjoyed traveling by tour bus or train so they could socialize with others and enjoy the scenery together. Violet was also a very talented seamstress and could sew anything. Violet was a wonderful kind soul that will be missed forever by the many hearts she touched. Surviving are one son, Tommy (Tammy) Wegener of Higginsville; one daughter, Tammie (Paul) Mahnken of Higginsville; two brothers, Alvin McCoy, Carroll McCoy; eight grandchildren, Tucker (Paige) Wegener of Bismark, MO, Taegan Wegener of Higginsville, Ben Myrick of Higginsville, Bradley (Allie) Myrick of Bryan, TX, Steven Mahnken of Higginsville, Joseph (Laura) Mahnken of Republic, MO, Emily Mahnken of Higginsville, Chris Devall of Oak Grove, MO; seven great-grandchildren, Owen Myrick, Violet Myrick, Lillian Mahnken, Finan Wegener, Eleanor Mahnken, Macy Devall, Zion Devall. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Bill; six brothers, Ernest McCoy, Jr., Russell McCoy, Therine McCoy, Robert McCoy, Virgil McCoy and Arnold McCoy, seven sisters, Maime Martin, Beulah Higgins, Imogene Poe, Sylvia Wagner, Laverne Johnson, Lavonne McCoy and Patty McCoy. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, February 13, 2023, at Stewart-Hoefer Funeral Home, 1600 Main St. Higginsville, Missouri. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at the Stewart-Hoefer Funeral Home with Glenn Pragman officiating. Interment will follow in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery where she will spend Valentine’s Day and finally be with her loving husband Bill, once again. Casket bearers: Tucker Wegener, Ben Myrick, Bradley Myrick, Owen Myrick, Steven Mahnken, Joseph Mahnken. Honorary Casket Bearers: Emily Mahnken, Taegan Wegener, Chris Devall, Owen Myrick, Violet Myrick, Lillian Mahnken, Finan Wegener, Eleanor Mahnken, Macy Devall, Zion Devall.
